Pas vraiment une suite, Pirates! sera surtout un remake du jeu sorti en 1987. Le gameplay devrait être rigoureusement identique et le seul changement annoncé pour l'instant est le passage est la 3D. On y jouera toujours un capitaine pirate au 17è siècle, tuant, pillant et abordant tout ce qu'il était possible de tuer, piller et aborder dans les Caraïbes de l'époque. Duels entre capitaines, chasses au trésor, raides sur des ports fortifiés, tout ce qui a fait le succès du premier Pirates! se retrouvera dans cette nouvelle version.
